Ballparks, America's Parthenon

Though America is relatively young compared to most nations, we revere our ballparks with the same respect as museums, amphitheaters or temples centuries old. With loyalties, customs and architectural innovations, here are a few American ballparks worthy of a visit and the best places to stay to complete your trip.

Fenway Park - Boston, MA

Described as "America's most beloved ballpark," Fenway first opened on April 20, 1912, making it America's oldest baseball stadium. With a seating capacity of 37,731, this ballpark is considered a living museum. Fenway, home of the 2018 World Series Red Sox, has tours and private luxury suites with amenities.

Completed in 2009, Citi Field was designed with an aesthetic inspired by New York architecture and the spirit of the city. A structural steel "bridge" motif within the stadium reinforces the Mets' connection to the five boroughs. The infrastructure is clad in brick, reminiscent of the masonry used at Ebbets Field, a former New York stadium. With a capacity of 41,922, Citi Field has amenities for fans such as restaurants, bars, clubs and luxury suites.

Yankee Stadium - New York, NY

The designers of the 2009 Yankee Stadium incorporated modernity with the nostalgia of the previous ballpark, which stood from 1923 until 2008. The new stadium seats 54,251 fans; with a main grandstand of four levels extending from foul pole to foul pole, and approximately 30,000 seats in the first two levels. The third level contains 56 luxury suites and the fourth has a split-level upper deck. At the game, fans can enjoy a martini bar, steakhouse, luxury, outdoor and party suites, while SELECT properties such as The Carlyle, a Rosewood Hotel which will enhance their trip even further with exclusive amenities and relaxing spa treatments.

Built in 1914, Wrigley Field is the second oldest ballpark in the U.S. Traditions grow from this longevity. Tourists take selfies before Wrigley's candy-red marquee; "ballhawks" dash across Waveland Avenue during home games, wearing outfielders' gloves to snag souvenir balls; and fans watch games from neighboring rooftops, adding more eyes to the 41,649 fans inside the stadium. With club suites and premier seating, fans can cheer on the Cubs in comfort, style and convenience.

Opened in 2017, SunTrust Park is part of an entire entertainment district called The Battery Atlanta(TM). The 41,000-seat capacity ballpark offers amenities such as the three-level Chop House, which includes a restaurant, two party decks and one group area directly on the field behind the outfield fence. Its Home Depot Clubhouse is a premium suite that resembles a tree house with bleacher-style seating.

Before you visit SunTrust Park, settle in comfort at the fabulous Ritz-Carlton Atlanta located just minutes away from the city's flavorful live music and restaurants.

Dodger Stadium - Los Angeles, CA

Dodger Stadium is the third oldest ballpark in Major League Baseball, opening in 1962. This ballpark is the largest in the League with a 56,000-seat capacity. The sight lines are the best in baseball, with the upper levels getting fans closer to the action because of the ballpark's cantilevered design and a relatively shallow field section. The Dodgers are the only major league team to employ a full-time arborist, due to the trees planted on the hillside during the stadium's construction, leading to a mature forest today.

After a day at the ballpark, enjoy a relaxing stay at Mr. C Beverly Hills, where elegant comfort aligns with contemporary amenities and intuitive service.
